Reading is my passion. Reading and learning!! What could be better in life? Reading brings the whole of creation to me. When I read, I can learn anything that someone else has taken their precious time to share their knowledge about. I can relax and take a much needed vacation anywhere in the world. I can meet new people and learn the ways of others. Most importantly I can learn about God, who he is, what he has created, and what his creation has done through the ages.
You could say I am an avid book collector, to a fault. I don't think I would be satisfied until I had everything ever written---therein is the fault. I see a book and I need to know what it is about, what it has to say or teach me. Do you know what I see when I see a blank space on a wall? A perfect place for a bookshelf. I do believe I am obsessed with the written word. You think I need help?
My daughter shares in my joy of reading. We could easily spend all day at the library and still not to be ready to leave when they close the doors.
My son is another story. He just doesn't see what is so fascinating. "I can watch a movie for 90 minutes and learn everything that it takes you days to read about." He just doesn't understand that a movie will never be able to probe someones mind like a book. My desire to have a library at home is a real thorn in his side. "Isn't it free to get books from the library?" He just doesn't get it.
How did Charlie feel about my obsession? He's a sweetie and just looked the other way. Gotta love a guy like that.
Got an update on my son. Since Charlie passed away, Candra and I are moving in with Chuck soon. Guess what my son is doing. He is building my bedroom as a library! Go figure! Sorry folks, but I think I have the greatest kids ever.
